Dakota Prairie Composting is a large-scale commercial composting facility. We accept materials such as food waste, yard waste, and wood waste that are composted on-site and then sold as landscaping products. Our facility is one of very few in the state of Minnesota that accepts and manages large volumes of source separated organic material. Source separated organic material includes commercial, industrial, and residential food scraps from households, restaurants, businesses, food manufacturing, grocery stores, and more.
Dakota Prairie Composting’s organics recycling program is designed to empower residential consumers in their efforts to live more sustainably and reduce their environmental footprint. This program is a testament to our commitment to fostering a culture of composting and recycling, turning today’s food scraps into tomorrow’s fertile soil.
We accept all materials that can be used in our compost and mulch recipes. As we like to put it—we’ll basically accept anything that was living in our lifetime. Please see the list below and give us a call before bringing your items if you have questions. We reserve the right to reject any loads that contain non-compostable and/or contaminated material.
